Santosha || Contentment

Throwing Rocks

Personal Definition: Santosha translates most simply to contentment. Sounds simple right? Wrong. For a lot of us, if we’re not lying. Its the extremely difficult task of not wanting more than you need. It asks that we see our immediate experience for what is is without the lens of expectation. Its not complacency or happiness. Its patient and its hopeful.

Experience: Engaging with this Yama felt like sprinkling my life with some grace. I’m learning that my biggest struggle lately is PATIENCE (those who know me are like ‘go figure’). It felt like losing the parts of myself that I believed in most- ditching identity almost entirely and learning that I am allowed to leave any story that I don’t find myself in because I deserve the peace that is wholehearted contentment. Seriously… sit back and consider what honest contentment would feel like. Let that warmth sink in.

Contentment to me translates to…

I LOVE THE WOMAN I WAS.

I LOVE THE WOMAN I AM RIGHT NOW.

AND I LOVE THE WOMAN I AM BECOMING.
